so faux fur and summer shorts.







a few hours before my flight I had the chance to wander and adventure around the Las Vegas Art District in the early morning light with my best (aka sam.) and for those that don't know, the murals and graffiti that decorate the walls and adorn every street corner, are absolutely breath taking. I swear the Art District is Vegas's best kept secret.
But i'm a sunshine seeking, warm weather loving kind of gal, so the transition from summer clothes to heavy, layered winter clothes is a bit tough. Then I got these super cute shorties from AEO and I knew I'd probably die if I had to wait till summer until I could bust these bad boys out. So after a few minutes on Pinterest and the combining of a few trends, this outfit was born.
These shorts are SO comfortable and I seriously can't wait to wear them more often this year. They come in a few different washes and are perfectly high-waisted. I got another pair in a deeper denim blue and I'm so stoked to have added to my ever-growing shorts collection. Okay and I gotta admit that I may or may not have worn this fuzzy eyelash sweater approximately 3 times this week. No shame. Come on we all gotta have that one versatile piece that we abuse with overwear. Please tell me I'm not the only one...

Today marks 10 years since my dad died, an entire decade gone in the blink of an eye. I felt the sadness would last forever alongside people's awkward and embarrassed apologies. meet a mormon (me).

This past week I had the wonderful opportunity to go see the church sponsored film, Meet The Mormons. The documentary follows the lives of six Mormons (Latter Day Saints) and their families through their day to day lives, and to show the world what makes Mormons tick.  I absolutely loved the movie and encourage everyone that hasn't had the chance to see it, to go! At the opening of the film a woman was questioning people on the streets of New York City as to what they knew about Mormons. Their answers were both comical and intriguing. Their perceptions of members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints were based on hearsay, the media, and Mormons that they knew. It astounded me that so many people have the wrong idea about Mormons. Then I realized that they're simply learning from our example. It scares me to think that I might be the only LDS a person ever meets in their life. and what if I'm not representing the church in the right light?! Unfo

okay I know that nowhere on this outfit is there flowers, but this full ruby red skirt makes me feel like a pretty tulip.  It's been a bit rainy up here in the Burg so I knew that it was time to bring out the tights and say so long to my short summery dresses. I love the versatility of this skirt and how easily it can be paired with anything! my next outfit with this skirt WILL include cheetah print, just you wait. xoxo hails.
